Job Description
Job Responsibilities Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients according to physician orders and pharmacy regulations Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications Counsel patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, storage, and adherence to therapy Provide immunizations and other health screenings in compliance with state laws and pharmacy protocols Manage and verify insurance claims and prior authorizations to facilitate medication access Maintain accurate and complete patient medication records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA Oversee the daytoday operations of the retail pharmacy, including inventory management, ordering, and storage of pharmaceuticals Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation standards governing pharmacy practice Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient medication therapy and resolve prescriptionrelated issues Educate pharmacy staff and technicians on policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain quality and safety standards Respond to patient inquiries and provide professional advice on overthecounter medications and general health concerns
Position Qualifications Minimum Required:
A Bachelors of Science Degree (B.S.) or Pharm.
D. in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or NYS internship permit
Preferred:
One year experience as a pharmacist Work Environment All work is performed in offices that require working in close quarters with other employees. The pharmacy settings are air conditioned / heated. Adequate protective wear available for handling certain drugs (i.e., chemo) such as a mask, gown and gloves. Gloves and goggles are available for other procedures as necessary.
