Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire Located inside a specialized recovery hospital dedicated to delivering world-class inpatient post-ICU care, this full-time leadership role focuses on managing pharmacy services crucial for chronic, critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. This position serves as the facility's Pharmacy Director, reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating closely with clinical teams. The role demands oversight of clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial aspects of the hospital pharmacy, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting continuous quality improvement in patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare medications and chemicals accurately in accordance with safety protocols. Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory requirements. Manage and administer the Adverse Drug Reaction Program effectively. Develop and participate in training and education programs for pharmacy staff. Contribute to quality assurance initiatives focused on drug utilization and effectiveness. Monitor patient drug therapy and participate in patient care activities. Develop at least one clinically oriented program annually (e.g., Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Patient Counseling, Pain Management, Nutritional Support). Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement. Provide teaching and counseling services to patients and their families.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of educational requirements for state pharmacy licensure. Minimum of three years' hospital pharmacy experience within the last five years. Current state pharmacy license and Basic Life Support certification if required.
Preferred:
PharmD or BS Pharm plus an advanced degree or completion of a hospital pharmacy residency. At least one year of pharmacy managerial experience is preferred. Board Certification and/or Residency completion is desirable.
