Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Direct Hire This leadership role directs all aspects of pharmacy services at a critical access illness recovery hospital dedicated to providing exceptional inpatient post-ICU care for chronic, critically ill patients. The position involves working closely with the CEO and multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure safe, effective, and compliant pharmaceutical care within the hospital setting.

Direct Hire Key Responsibilities:
Lead clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of the hospital pharmacy. Oversee the accurate preparation of medications and chemicals. Ensure compliance with standards set by The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory bodies. Manage and administer the Adverse Drug Reaction Program. Develop and support new employee training and ongoing education initiatives. Participate in quality assurance programs targeting drug utilization and therapeutic effectiveness. Monitor patient drug therapy and develop at least one clinically oriented program annually, such as Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Patient Counseling, Pain Management, or Nutritional Support. Foster a culture of continuous quality improvement. Educate and counsel patients and their families on medication therapies.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of all educational requirements for state licensure; current state pharmacy license required. Minimum of 3 years hospital pharmacy experience within the past 5 years. BLS certification if required by state regulations. PharmD or BS Pharm with an advanced degree or completion of hospital pharmacy residency preferred. At least 1 year in a managerial or leadership role preferred. Board Certification and/or hospital residency training strongly preferred.
