Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Manager Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity is available for a Specialty Pharmacy Manager to lead a growing specialty pharmacy operation in Central and Upstate New York. This role offers a unique progression, initially providing a hybrid remote work environment from Oneonta, NY, with a transition to full onsite work at a brand new specialty pharmacy location in Utica, NY, once built and licensed.
Responsibilities:
Oversee daily specialty pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with industry standards and accreditation requirements Lead and manage pharmacy staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment Coordinate prior authorizations and manage specialty medication dispensing Ensure adherence to specialty pharmacy accreditation standards such as URAC and ACHC Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams to optimize patient care Support specialty disease state management, including oncology, HIV, infusion therapies, and rare diseases
Qualifications:
Active New York State Pharmacist License in good standing Proven specialty pharmacy experience (required) Previous pharmacy leadership or management experience Comfort and flexibility with an initial hybrid remote work model, transitioning to full onsite presence in Utica Strong operational, organizational, and team management abilities Familiarity with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards (URAC, ACHC) strongly preferred Experience with prior authorizations and specialty medications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage patients, providers, and pharmacy personnel alike Experience with specialty disease states is an advantage
Location and Work Model:
Start hybrid remote from Oneonta, New York Transition to fully onsite work in Utica, New York, at the new specialty pharmacy location Temporary to permanent/direct hire opportunity available This role combines leadership, specialty pharmacy expertise, and the chance to shape a new pharmacy operation.
