Doctor of Pharmacy Licensed Pharmacist Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Director of Oncology Pharmacy Services is responsible for leading and coordinating operational, clinical, and strategic initiatives across inpatient and outpatient oncology pharmacy services. This role ensures high quality, compliant, and efficient pharmacy services in alignment with institutional goals and regulatory standards. The Director will also serve as a key liaison with Cancer Institute leadership, clinical teams, information technology, and external partners to support oncology care delivery. Key ResponsibilitiesPharmacy Leadership & Operations Provide strategic and operational leadership for all pharmacy services and medication management activities. Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and institutional drug protocols. Ensure medication use standards are safe, clinically appropriate, and cost-effective. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes. Oversee formulary management, including additions and revisions based on clinical and operational consensus. Ensure compliance with federal, state, accreditation, and organizational regulations and standards. Clinical Services & Patient Care Deliver clinical pharmacy services and respond to medication consult requests in a timely and accurate manner. Support safe and effective medication therapy management for patients and families. Promote quality improvement initiatives and medication safety programs. Maintain effective communication with medical staff, nursing, administration, and the public. Staff Leadership & Development Manage clinical pharmacists, specialists, pharmacy residents, and support personnel. Conduct performance evaluations and ensure staff accountability and professional growth. Coordinate staff development programs and continuing education initiatives. Support ASHP residency accreditation standards through resident education, mentorship, and evaluation. Foster a culture of teamwork, recognition, accountability, and continuous improvement. Quality, Safety & Compliance Promote a culture of safety, patient privacy, infection prevention, and incident reporting. Ensure adherence to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Develop workflows and staffing models that support safe and efficient pharmacy operations. Participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities. Financial & Administrative Management Assist with budget development and resource management to support financial sustainability. Monitor operational efficiency and implement process improvements when needed. Support organizational goals, strategic initiatives, and change management efforts.Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required. Current pharmacist licensure in applicable state required. Previous pharmacy leadership or management experience in a hospital or health system setting preferred. Residency training and/or board certification preferred. Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, medication safety, regulatory standards, and clinical pharmacy practice. Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Skills & Competencies Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and high-stress situations.
