Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract A leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy working as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a new behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This role offers the chance to shape pharmacy operations in a setting that supports mental health care, combining clinical expertise with management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the working PIC, overseeing day-to-day pharmacy operations. Dispense medications accurately and efficiently. Consult with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient medication therapy. Manage and provide oversight to pharmacy technicians. Restock and maintain automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs). Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Licensed pharmacist with current credentials. Experience working as a Pharmacist in Charge or in a leadership role within a hospital pharmacy. Strong knowledge of behavioral health pharmacy practices preferred. Ability to manage both clinical and operational duties effectively. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Location:
Lynchburg, Virginia.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday. Day shift hours. This position is offered on a contract basis for a minimum of 13 weeks with potential for extension or transition to permanent employment.
