Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Director of Pharmacy (DOP)/working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This hospital represents a joint venture between two prominent healthcare organizations and requires an experienced pharmacist to step into a dynamic leadership and clinical role. This short-term contract assignment is expected to last 13 weeks or more, with potential to transition into a permanent position. The schedule follows standard business days with Monday through Friday day shifts, supporting work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a working PIC, directly involved in dispensing medications and providing pharmaceutical care Collaborate closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimal medication management Supervise and provide oversight of pharmacy technicians to maintain efficient operations Manage restocking of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) to ensure continuous availability of medications Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards within the pharmacy department
Desired Experience:
Current licensure to practice pharmacy in Virginia Proven ability to work independently and lead pharmacy operations in a healthcare setting Experience in behavioral health pharmacy practice preferred Strong communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration Ability to manage and mentor pharmacy support staff
Location:
