Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract A Pharmacist with leadership expertise is needed to serve in a Director of Pharmacy/working Pharmacist-in-Charge role at a small behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA. This newly established facility is the result of a joint venture between two prominent healthcare organizations. The position offers an immediate start and is a contract assignment of at least 13 weeks, with potential to transition into a permanent role.
Responsibilities:
Dispense medications and maintain accuracy in pharmaceutical distribution Consult with physicians and nursing staff to support patient care plans Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee their daily activities Manage restocking and inventory control of Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, and hospital policies
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Current pharmacist licensure with eligibility to practice in Virginia Proven experience in pharmacy management or a Director-level role Strong clinical knowledge related to behavioral health medications Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with medical staff Ability to perform hands-on dispensing duties while managing operational responsibilities
