Job Description
Job Summary Val Vista Pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our non-sterile compounding team. This position is responsible for preparing customized medications while maintaining high standards for accuracy, quality, safety, documentation, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities Compound non-sterile medications accurately and efficiently according to approved formulas, established procedures, USP <795>, USP <800> when applicable, applicable regulations, and pharmacy SOPs. Perform required calculations, measurements, and preparation steps accurately and consistently. Complete compounding records and other required documentation accurately and contemporaneously. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with pharmacy SOPs and the Hazardous Drug Control Plan (HDCP). Maintain the cleanliness and organization of compounding areas and equipment in accordance with established cleaning and quality procedures. Monitor compounding ingredients and supplies, assist with inventory management, verify appropriate storage, and identify expired or outdated materials. Follow established quality assurance, equipment, cleaning, safety, and documentation requirements. Provide professional and responsive service to patients, providers, and coworkers. Maintain a positive, professional attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment. Preferred Experience Experience working in a community or independent compounding pharmacy. Working knowledge of USP <795>, USP <800>, and good compounding practices. Experience with non-sterile compounding equipment and techniques, including preparation of capsules, creams, ointments, troches, and other customized dosage forms. Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, quality standards, and patient care. Qualifications Active Arizona Pharmacy Technician license in good standing (required). Minimum of 1 year of non-sterile compounding experience (required). Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to accurately perform calculations, measure ingredients, and follow formulas and procedures. Strong organizational skills and commitment to accurate documentation. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
