Job Description

Job Summary:
Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, transcribes abbreviated and symbolized information from physicians orders onto patient medication profile, through manual and computer entry. Selects and prepares medications, pharmaceutical products, and intravenous admixtures, including chemotherapeutic agents. Assists in thee dispensing and distribution of medications. Maintains pharmacy merchandise and equipment. Reviews medication cassettes for returned medication; types unit does and intravenous admixture labels; transports pharmacy merchandise. Performs other duties as required.
Essential Responsibilities:
Must specifically and regularly be assigned by the Employer to direct, check, train, and provide feedback on the work of two (2) or more Outpatient Pharmacy Technicians. May assist manager with work schedules. Must be capable of performing all duties within the area of responsibility and meet all the requirements of the Outpatient Pharmacy Technician. May also oversee the workflow of front line operations, when needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
This job motivates and provides work direction to other employees, but does not have the authority to hire, fire, or discipline. Grade 450
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Experience N/A Education High School Diploma/GED. License, Certification, Registration Pharmacy Technician License (California)
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to either type 30 WPM, or 6,000 KPH. Requires successful completion of a qualifying pharmaceutical exam and the Kaiser Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Program. Working knowledge of current drug forms, dosage strengths, and generic & trade name, and traditional equivalents. Knowledge of Federal & State laws/regulations regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services. Ability to read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information. Must possess verbal and written English-speaking communication skills. Ability to learn and operate pharmacy computer system and other equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time with frequent bending/stooping/lifting or reaching. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment. Also refer to Position Specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience preferred.
