Unlike a traditional retail setting, this role focuses on managing complex medication therapies for chronic and rare conditions (e.g., oncology, neurology, rheumatology, HIV, or MS). You will be the vital link between patients, providers, and insurance companies, ensuring that high-cost medications are accessible and administered safely.
Responsibilities Clinical Coordination:
Manage patient intake and enrollment for specialty programs, ensuring all clinical documentation is up to date.
Prior Authorization Support:
Initiate, track, and follow up on PAs and appeals to ensure timely access to therapy.
Patient Advocacy:
Coordinate financial assistance through manufacturer coupons, foundations, and co-pay cards to minimize out-of-pocket costs for patients.
Prescription Fulfillment:
Accurately prepare, label, and package specialty medications, including those requiring cold-chain shipping.
Adherence Monitoring:
Conduct regular clinical assessments and refill reminder calls to monitor patient compliance.
Provider Liaison:
Communicate directly with physician offices to clarify orders under pharmacists' supervision, obtain missing clinical notes, and provide status updates on patient care. Experience Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, acute care procedures, and medication management. Proven ability to provide excellent patient care and support via customer service. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems. 1-2 years of prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
