Job Description

Where You'll Work St. Thomas More Hospital, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, is the cornerstone of health care services for Fremont County and surrounding southern Colorado communities. St. Thomas More offers 24 hour emergency and trauma services; inpatient acute care; intensive care; labor, delivery, and nursery care; multi-modal diagnostic imaging; inpatient and outpatient surgical services; rehabilitation services; cardiopulmonary rehab and diagnostics; sleep studies; an infusion center; wound care; and a community blood bank. We are on a mission to provide high quality care with zero harm to patients and employees. Our board-certified physicians specialize in emergency medicine, internal medicine, urology, bariatric services, obstetrics/gynecology services, general surgery, orthopedic surgery and osteopathic treatment. Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Certified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the complex and personalized medication needs of patients. Every day, you will meticulously process and dispense specialty medication prescriptions, including sterile compounding, along with managing inventory and performing crucial administrative and financial tasks.

You'll expertly communicate with patients regarding their therapy, dosage, and delivery schedules, and assist pharmacists with patient follow-up and clinical documentation. To excel in this role, you must possess exceptional organizational skills, a strong ability to navigate complex insurance and patient support programs, and an unwavering commitment to patient advocacy. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, technicians are accountable for: Preparing and dispensing prescribed medications for patients. Performing compounding of intravenous medications. Assisting in managing inventory. Performing charging and crediting functions for medications associated with drug distribution processes. Performing routine clerical/administrative tasks. This is a PRN position (5 shifts scheduled in a 6-week period). This position is used to cover call-offs, vacations, and where coverage may be needed. PRN is not eligible for benefits but does offer a 15% differential on top of the base rate of pay. Department hours are 7:00am

Required High School Diploma or GED equivalent Registered Pharmacy Tech in the state in which you'll work Active CPT-EXCPT or CPT-PTCB or CPHT certification in good standing in the state in which you'll work 6 months experience compounding of IV medication
Knowledge:
Pharmaceutical patient care best practices and regulatory compliance. Basic pharmaceutical mathematics and financial functions. Strong phone, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with office equipment and ability to learn new software/database systems.
Abilities:
Prepare and compound various medications, including intravenous admixtures. Apply pharmacy standards and procedures, including I.V. admixture and automated systems. Communicate effectively in English and establish positive working relationships.
