  • Summary:
  • The purpose of this position is to ensure that pharmacy technician service remains uninterrupted during technician vacations and absences. The position would contribute to achieving the organization's objectives by maintaining the conditions necessary for safe and timely medication access.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Assists the pharmacist in the processing, preparation, filling, and delivery of prescription orders.
  • Assists in the maintenance of all drug storage areas in the pharmacy, maintaining adequate inventory, removing outdated medications and replacing as necessary
  • Point of sale: Accurately handle cash, process customer transactions, including cash, credit cards, checks, refunds, charge account transactions and accurately process the daily cash receipts and generate reports in the manner preferred by the accounting personnel.
  • Generation of all daily pharmacy reports as required by the department, state and federal law
  • Fills prescriptions in accordance with all state and federal laws
  • -Ability to Learn and demonstrate an understanding of the policies and participate in the pharmacy activities required to assure the pharmacy�s compliance with URAC standards as they relate to Pharmacy Operations, Specialty Drug Management and Patient Management as mandated for accreditation
  • Handles various duties including, but not limited to, ordering, counting, and receiving inventory, the appropriate handling and stocking of drug products, and prescription record keeping.
  • Heavy customer contact requiring excellent customer service skills while on the phone and directly at the point of sale.
  • Complies with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs, as applicable including Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) programs and manufacturer limited distribution drug requirements.
  • Documents all required activities on a daily basis as required including temperature, humidity, refrigerator temperatures and required cleaning activities.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum experience: none Certification (Active):
PTCB or NHA ExCPT Certification License:
Registered Pharmacy Technician (active & in good standing CT Department of Consumer Protection for those working Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole a plus.
