Position Summary Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Certified Pharmacy Technician provides a full range of technical support duties within the pharmacy. The position assists with prescription preparation, medication distribution, inventory control, data integrity, and other pharmacy operations while adhering to applicable federal and DC regulations, licensing requirements, and Unity Health Care policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare prescriptions by counting the exact number of dosages to be dispensed. Prepare unit dose and watch-take medications. Refer physician calls and customer medical questions to the Pharmacist. Implement inventory control procedures and order stock under the direction of the Pharmacist and within regulatory guidelines. Perform regular checks for expired medications. Deliver medications to inmates. Provide technical assistance to the Pharmacy. Maintain pharmacy databases to support data integrity and adherence to user standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current D.C. Pharmacy Technician License. High school diploma or GED. Six (6) months of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital, outpatient, or retail pharmacy. Technical computer skills, including working knowledge of relational databases. Knowledge of pharmaceutical and pharmacy practices obtained through coursework or on-the-job training.
