Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician Ascend Specialty Rx Homestead, FL 33030 Full-time Full-time About the Role Ascend Specialty Rx is looking for an experienced Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to be part of our growing team. This role begins in non-sterile compounding and offers a structured opportunity to develop and advance into sterile compounding, all under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Ascend Specialty Rx is a state-of-the-art compounding pharmacy located in Homestead, FL. Our mission is to deliver best-in-class service with premium pharmaceuticals. Daily Tasks Compound non-sterile preparations including creams, ointments, capsules, oral solutions, and suppositories in accordance with USP standards Clean and maintain the compounding area and equipment per established SOPs and applicable regulatory standards Perform inventory tasks including receiving, inspecting, and logging raw materials and APIs Fill, label, package, and ship compounded preparations accurately and in compliance with all applicable requirements This position will report directly to the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).
Key Responsibilities Non-Sterile Compounding:
Accurately weigh, measure, and combine pharmaceutical ingredients using calibrated equipment; follow all Master Formulation Records (MFRs) and Compounding Records precisely, including proper beyond-use dating (BUD)
Quality & Compliance:
Adhere to USP and standards, FDA regulations, and Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements; maintain compounding area cleanliness, gowning protocols, and all required documentation
Equipment & Facility:
Operate and maintain compounding equipment including LAFW, balances, ointment mills, capsule machines, and mixers; ensure calibration and cleaning records are completed accurately
Workflow Contribution:
Assist in building compounding workflows, SOPs, and documentation systems; support facility setup and readiness as the pharmacy launches
Training:
Assist in the onboarding and training of future pharmacy technicians as the team grows Requirements Active Florida Pharmacy Technician license (or eligibility to obtain) Prior non-sterile compounding experience preferred Working knowledge of USP and standards, FDA regulations, and Florida Board of Pharmacy rules and procedures Self-starter with strong attention to detail, meticulous working habits, accurate calculation skills, and the flexibility to thrive in a new, growing pharmacy Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift or transport packages weighing up to 30 pounds Preferred Qualifications Experience in a PCAB-accredited pharmacy or supporting a new pharmacy build-out Familiarity with compounding pharmacy software Experience handling hazardous drug (HD) preparations under USP Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly rate based on experience Health, dental and vision insurance 401(k) matching Paid Time Off (PTO) Health savings account (HSA) Growth opportunities for top performers
