Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician

About the Role Ascend Specialty Rx is looking for an experienced Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to be part of our growing team. This role is primarily focused on sterile compounding, with non-sterile compounding performed as needed, all under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Daily Tasks Compound sterile preparations (IVs, injections, and other aseptic preparations) in accordance with USP <797> standards Clean and sterilize the cleanroom, including equipment, surfaces, and work areas per established SOPs Perform inventory tasks including receiving, inspecting, and logging raw materials and APIs Fill, label, package, and ship compounded preparations accurately and in compliance with all applicable requirements This position will report directly to the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC).

Key Responsibilities Sterile Compounding:

Accurately prepare sterile preparations using proper aseptic technique; operate and maintain LAFWs and BSCs; perform and document environmental monitoring and beyond-use dating (BUD)

Non-Sterile Compounding:

Prepare non-sterile preparations (creams, ointments, capsules, oral solutions) per USP <795> standards as needed

Equipment & Facility:

Operate and maintain compounding equipment including balances, capsule machines, and mixers; ensure calibration and cleaning records are completed accurately

Quality & Compliance:

Adhere to USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards, FDA regulations, and Florida Board of Pharmacy requirements; maintain cleanroom conditions, gowning protocols, and all required documentation

Workflow Contribution:

Assist in building compounding workflows, SOPs, and documentation systems; support cleanroom setup and certification readiness as the pharmacy launches

Training:

Assist in the onboarding and training of future pharmacy technicians as the team grows Requirements Active Florida Pharmacy Technician license Prior sterile compounding experience required; non-sterile compounding experience preferred Working knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards and procedures, FDA regulations, and Florida Board of Pharmacy rules Self-starter with strong attention to detail, meticulous working habits, accurate calculation skills, and the flexibility to thrive in a new, growing pharmacy Capable of working in humidity-controlled, temperature-regulated cleanroom environments, while gowned in full clean room attire.
