Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventory, and providing exceptional patient service. Your dedication will support hospital operations, critical care units, and LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy settings, ensuring seamless medication management across diverse clinical environments. Responsibilities Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations. Manage medication inventory, including stock replenishment, expiration checks, and proper storage procedures aligned with safety standards. Assist with patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, clarifying medication orders, and ensuring proper documentation of medical terminology. Support critical care and acute care units by providing timely medication administration assistance and maintaining precise records of medication delivery. Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and pharmacy regulations related to aseptic techniques, medication safety, and patient confidentiality. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate patient service, answer medication-related questions, and contribute to comprehensive patient care plans. Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and incident reports to support quality assurance initiatives. Requirements Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of LTC pharmacy operations and hospital pharmacy workflows. Critical care experience or exposure to ICU settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and aseptic technique is essential. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in acute care environments with a focus on patient service and safety. Prior experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding is preferred. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for intake processing and inventory management. Certification as a pharmacy technician (or equivalent) as required by state or regulatory bodies; ongoing education in pharmacy practice is a plus.
