Hours of Operation:
Monday-Friday:

9:00 AM

•7:00 PM (The Destrehan Location Closes at 6:00 PM)

Saturday:

9:00 AM

•3:00 PM Schedule & Availability Requirements This is a full-time position. Availability Monday-Friday and Saturdays is required. Employees scheduled to work Saturday will receive one weekday off during that week. Position Overview We are seeking a Louisiana Board of Pharmacy Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist in preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, supporting daily pharmacy operations, and delivering outstanding service to our patients. Key Responsibilities Prescription Processing & Dispensing Accurately enter prescription data into the pharmacy software system Prepare, count, and label medications for pharmacist verification Process new prescriptions, refills, and transfers in compliance with state and federal regulations Patient Communication & Customer Service Greet patients warmly and provide courteous, professional assistance Answer questions regarding prescription status, refills, and basic medication information (within technician scope of practice) Contact prescribers for refill authorizations and prescription clarifications Handle patient concerns with empathy, discretion, and professionalism Pharmacy Operations & Support Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA standards Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating medications Assist with insurance claims processing, including resolving rejections and prior authorization support Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Collaborate with pharmacists and team members to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional patient care Required Skills Attention to detail and accuracy Strong communication skills (in person and over the phone) Excellent customer service and patient care skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn pharmacy software Reliability, punctuality, and professionalism Teamwork and collaboration Organizational skills Preferred Skills Familiarity with McKesson Enterprise pharmacy software (experience a plus, but not required) Knowledge of insurance billing and claims resolution Experience with inventory management and ordering Advanced organizational and time-management abilities Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Current Louisiana Pharmacy Technician License or Technician Candidate Registration Previous pharmacy or healthcare experience preferred, but not required Physical Requirements Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods throughout the shift Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., boxes of medication or supplies) Comfortable working in a moderately busy environment with frequent patient interactions Why Join Nola Discount Pharmacy?
