Job Title:
Pharmacy Floor Technician Job Description The Pharmacy Floor Technician supports the safe and efficient preparation of prescriptions by accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and readying medications for final verification by a pharmacist. This role works under the supervision of licensed pharmacists to ensure compliance with regulations, maintain inventory accuracy, and uphold high standards of patient care and safety. Responsibilities Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pick medications from shelving and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks, to fulfill prescription orders. Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to verify accuracy, alerting the pharmacist on duty to any medication or product that does not scan properly. Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of them according to established procedures. Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them, and store them appropriately during low-volume times. Package materials and products manually in accordance with pharmacy procedures and quality standards. Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and organized manner and replenish all stock supplies as needed. Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and ensure regulatory compliance. Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code. Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support pharmacy operations. Perform other duties as assigned to support the pharmacy team and overall workflow. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work at a moderate, consistent speed while maintaining accuracy. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Possess and maintain a clear and active Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy. Basic pharmacy technician skills, including medication handling, labeling, and scanning. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and established procedures. Attention to detail to ensure accurate medication selection, labeling, and documentation. Ability to comply with HIPAA and other applicable government regulations. Physical ability to sit or stand for extended periods (7 to 10 hours per day) and to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion. Finger dexterity to operate office and pharmacy equipment. Visual acuity to see and read fine print, with close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to hear normal voice sounds to communicate effectively with team members. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred. Experience working in a pharmacy or healthcare environment. Familiarity with inventory processes and medication storage systems. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a pharmacy team. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain workstation order. Reliability and flexibility to work extended hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed. Work Environment This role is based in a pharmacy setting where the Pharmacy Floor Technician may sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently throughout the day, and may sit or stand for 7 to 10 hours per shift. The position involves handling medications, operating scanning and labeling equipment, and working at designated workstation areas and medication storage locations. The work environment requires close attention to detail, adherence to safety and privacy regulations, and the ability to maintain productivity at a moderate pace. The schedule for this role is primarily a 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. shift, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend required. Dress code follows departmental policies and is designed to promote safety, professionalism, and compliance with pharmacy standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Marlborough, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
