We are seeking an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Phone Technician . This position is responsible for handling incoming calls, assisting patients and healthcare providers, processing prescription-related requests, and supporting the pharmacy team with day-to-day operations. Duties & Responsibilities Answer and manage high-volume incoming pharmacy calls in a professional and courteous manner. Assist patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other callers with pharmacy-related questions and requests. Obtain and accurately document new prescription information and refill requests as directed by the pharmacist. Process prescription refill requests and communicate with patients regarding prescription status, availability, and pickup or delivery. Contact healthcare providers regarding prescription clarifications, refill authorizations, and other pharmacy-related matters as directed. Assist with insurance issues , including eligibility, rejected claims, prior authorization status, and other coverage-related questions. Accurately enter and update patient and prescription information in the pharmacy management system. Communicate prescription-related information clearly and efficiently with pharmacists and other pharmacy staff. Identify issues requiring pharmacist intervention and appropriately escalate questions or concerns. Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulations . Provide professional customer service while maintaining a calm and helpful demeanor, even during high call volume. Assist with other pharmacy duties and administrative tasks as needed. Requirements Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification - Required Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a retail or independent pharmacy Applicable state pharmacy technician registration/licensure Previous pharmacy technician experience - Required Strong verbal and written English communication skills Excellent telephone etiquette and professional communication skills Ability to communicate clearly with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and pharmacy staff Strong knowledge of prescription processing, pharmacy terminology, and common insurance issues Strong computer and data-entry skills Experience with pharmacy management software; PrimeRx experience is a plus Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately document information Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced pharmacy environment Strong customer service skills and a professional, patient-focused approach Ability to recognize when a question or issue requires pharmacist intervention
Pay:
$24.00 - $30.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 - 45.0 per week
