Pharmacy Technician MedAC About the JobGeneral Summary of PositionMedStar Health is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Elkridge. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the MedAC Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of duties to support the preparation, distribution, and documentation of medications in a pharmacy distribution setting. The technician ensures the accurate and timely fulfillment of medication orders, maintenance of inventory, and cleanliness of the work environment while collaborating with healthcare facilities, medication repackagers, and wholesalers to ensure uninterrupted medication supply.

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAccepts and implements general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.

Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and ads to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

Ensures adequate inventory including placing orders to repackage and wholesaler as requested.

Organizes medications and delivery containers for expedited verification by a pharmacist.

Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Prepares and secures medication totes for delivery by the designated timeframe; meets fill and delivery timeframes.

Pulls medication fill list; expedites the filling of medications and ensures labeling accuracy.

Receives medication order from repackeger and wholesaler verify packing slip to what was received noting any discrepancies and stock into pick station or back-up inventory location.

Restocks picking stations and back-up inventory locations and verifies inventory counts.

Sorts medications by designated delivery area and ensures labeling accuracy.

Verifies dispensing counts and completes documentation for accurate billing/invoicing in the computer.

Works on assignments that are semi-routine with the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice as required.

Minimal QualificationsEducationHigh School Diploma required or equivalent requiredExperience1-2 years pharmacy experience requiredLicenses and Certificationsed technician in Maryland and nationally accredited certification (e.g. PTCB) within 6 months of hire.
