About the
Role:
The Pharmacy Technician plays a critical role in supporting pharmacists to ensure the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings. This position involves managing prescription orders, preparing and labeling medications, and maintaining sterile environments to guarantee patient safety. The Pharmacy Technician acts as a vital link between patients, pharmacists, and healthcare providers by handling communication and documentation with precision and professionalism. Reliability and attention to detail are essential to uphold the integrity of pharmacy operations and comply with regulatory standards. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care and enhances the overall patient experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program. Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) as required by state or local regulations. Basic knowledge of pharmacy operations and medication terminology. Demonstrated ability to maintain sterility and follow safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in retail pharmacy environments. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy management software. Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. Additional certifications or continuing education in pharmacy-related fields.
Responsibilities:
Accurately enter prescription orders into the pharmacy system and verify patient information. Fill and label prescriptions following established protocols to ensure correct medication dispensing. Operate and maintain communication tools to coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies. Perform sterilization procedures and maintain a clean, sterile work environment to prevent contamination. Assist pharmacists in inventory management, including stocking medications and checking for expired products. Provide respectful and professional customer service to patients and healthcare staff. Adhere to all safety, privacy, and regulatory guidelines within the pharmacy setting.
