Job Description
Description Job Summary The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for supporting pharmacy technicians and pharmacists with clerical duties, providing excellent customer service, performing cashier functions, and assisting with the maintenance of the pharmacy department. The Pharmacy Clerk plays a vital role in promoting the Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience through all interactions with customers and employees. Key Responsibilities Assist patients and caregivers in person and over the phone with general inquiries and services. Operate the cash register to process pharmacy and prescription purchases, ensuring accurate and efficient payment processing and obtaining necessary signatures from patients. Perform general clerical tasks, including filing and retrieving hard copy prescriptions, organizing completed prescriptions, and assisting in the management of invoices for purchased goods. Assist with inventory management, including maintaining stock levels, handling recalled medications, and communicating with wholesalers as needed. Help with general housekeeping and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. Deliver medications to patients' homes, as well as nursing and assisted living facilities when necessary. Collaborate with the bookkeeping team to maintain accurate patient charge accounts and assist in managing monthly statements for pharmacy charge account customers. Work with the GM/HBC department to manage OTC stock and merchandise. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by management. Requirements Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license, transportation, and proof of vehicle insurance. High school diploma or GED required. Medical background or experience is preferred, but not required. Must demonstrate exceptional customer service skills with tact, professionalism, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently, with strong problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities. Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accuracy. Strong computer skills and comfort with technology. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Basic math skills required. Must be able to speak, read, and write in English. Working Conditions, Physical Demands and Availability Fast-paced, indoor environment Flexible schedule working evenings and weekends. This position is part time, but could possibly become full time.
