Hospital Pharmacy Technician We are seeking a detail-oriented Hospital Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient pharmacy operations and help ensure safe, accurate, and timely medication distribution throughout the hospital. This position works closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other clinical team members in a fast-paced hospital environment. Schedule Full-time, 8-hour shifts. Typical shift times are 7:00 AM-3:00 PM and/or 3:00 PM-11:00 PM. Candidates must have availability to work assigned day, evening, weekend, and holiday rotations as needed by the department. Key Responsibilities Accurately fill, label, package, and prepare medication orders for pharmacist review and dispensing. Prepare sterile IV medications, admixtures, and compounded products using appropriate aseptic technique and established cleanroom procedures. Distribute medications throughout the hospital, including medication deliveries, returns, replenishment, and restocking activities. Restock medication carts, automated dispensing cabinets, emergency kits, and designated medication storage areas. Maintain pharmacy inventory by monitoring expiration dates, processing medication recalls, repackaging medications, rotating stock, and maintaining adequate supply levels. Support Omnicell automated dispensing systems, including replenishment, troubleshooting, resolving discrepancies, completing inspections, and maintaining accurate inventory. Respond professionally and promptly to medication-related requests from nursing units and clinical staff via telephone, computer, and in-person communication. Collaborate with pharmacists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support efficient medication turnaround times and high-quality patient care. Document pharmacy activities accurately and maintain compliance with hospital policies, pharmacy procedures, state regulations, and patient-safety standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure pharmacy workspace, including medication storage and compounding areas. Required Qualifications Current, active registration with the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy. Hands-on experience with Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets is required. Experience using Epic electronic medical record (EMR) systems is required. Strong attention to detail and ability to safely perform repetitive, accuracy-sensitive medication tasks. Effective verbal and written communication, customer service, and teamwork skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital or clinical pharmacy environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous Hospital Pharmacy Technician experience. Current Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification. Experience with sterile compounding, IV preparation, and aseptic technique. Familiarity with inpatient medication distribution workflows, pharmacy inventory management, medication recalls, and automated dispensing technology.
