  • 20/hr About the Job This position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized compounding environment focused on preparing customized medications that improve patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, eager to learn, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare setting. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the technician will assist with non-sterile compounding, inventory management, quality assurance activities, and daily pharmacy operations while maintaining compliance with
USP , USP
, New Jersey Board of Pharmacy regulations, federal and state laws, and company policies. Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare non-sterile compounded medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, mix, package, and label pharmaceutical ingredients and finished preparations.
  • Perform calculations necessary for compounding formulas, batch records, ingredient conversions, and inventory management.
  • Complete and maintain accurate compounding documentation, logs, and quality assurance records.
  • Inspect compounded preparations for accuracy, quality, appearance, and compliance with established specifications.
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain compounding equipment, workstations, containment devices, and laboratory areas.
  • Follow USP and USP standards, pharmacy SOPs, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, receiving, stocking, cycle counts, and expiration date monitoring.
  • Prepare prepackaged medications and unit-dose products as directed.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of pharmaceutical materials and hazardous waste.
  • Utilize pharmacy management software and compounding systems.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory control, and laboratory organization.
  • Support pharmacy operations and perform additional duties as assigned. Ensures security of Protected Health Information as per HIPAA requirements Set yourself apart Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Computer literacy, including but not limited to, Windows, Office 365 Suites, and Microsoft Teams.
  • National certification through PTCB or ExCPT/NHA is preferred and may be required within 90 days of hire. CareFirst Specialty Pharmacy can provide an approved technician training program to assist eligible candidates.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • PTCB or ExCPT/NHA national certification
  • preferred.
  • Knowledge of USP and USP standards
  • preferred.
  • Experience with PK Software, PrimeRx, or other pharmacy management systems
  • preferred. Working Conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including gloves, gowns, masks, respirators, eye protection, hair covers, beard covers, and shoe covers as necessary.
  • Ability to work in laboratory and pharmacy environments involving both hazardous and non-hazardous compounds.
  • Employees may be exposed to pharmaceutical ingredients, hazardous drugs, cleaning agents, and other materials associated with compounding activities.
  • The noise level is generally moderate.
