Job Description

Salary Range The expected base rate for this Glens Falls, New York, United States-based position is $17.30 to $25.95 per hour. (Exact rate is determined on a case-by-case basis commensurate with experience level, as well as education and certifications pertaining to each position which may be above the listed job requirements). The Impact You Can Make! As a Pharmacy Technician you will assist in the preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals which supports the safe, timely and accurate delivery of pharmaceutical care. Direction, guidance, and on the job training are provided by a manager, Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician II, III or IV. This is a face-paced, rewarding position that can be used as an entry way towards advancement in your medical career! How You Will Fulfill Your Potential (Responsibilities) Interpret computer generated fill lists and loads in conjunction with Carousel dispensing technology to provide the appropriate medication, dosage, form, strength, size, and quantity for distribution to designated automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) once work is verified by a Pharmacist. Refills, loads, and takes inventory of all stock with verification from Pharmacist. Delivers patient specific medications, once verified by a Pharmacist, to patient care areas in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Re-packages bulk medications and prepares proper re-packaging documentation for Pharmacist verification in accordance with all Federal and State laws. Facilitate controlled substance distribution, after verification by a pharmacist, through the use of a controlled substance vault and integration of the ADC system including documenting all transfers. Participates in ADC and controlled substance vault discrepancy resolution. Evaluates safety and storage compliance against standards and documents findings with nursing and Pharmacists to ensure the proper storage of medications. Generates patient specific charges using the Pharmacy computer system to ensure timely posting of medication charges. Answers telephones and responds to customers to provide efficient service. What You Bring (Qualifications)
Education/Experience:
High School graduate or Equivalence certificate required Prior Pharmacy Technician experience preferred Pharmacy Technician National Certification (e.g.: CPhT or ExCPT) and New York State registration required with in 1 year of hire date (exceptions can be made for per diem employees) Prior experience with Omnicell, Cerner, RX30 or other similar programs preferred Understanding of medical terminology preferred Skills/Abilities Must be able to effectively read and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to peers, customers, supervisors and other employees Data entry - perform accurate data entry, operate a computer and learn computer applications specific to the department Mathematical skills - calculate doses using ratios, proportions and algebra Fluent knowledge of medication brand and generic names required
