Duties Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including sterile IV admixture procedures and compounding medications using aseptic techniques. Manage medication inventory, perform accurate data entry into pharmacy software systems, and ensure proper storage and labeling of pharmaceuticals. Support patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, updating patient records, and providing clear medication instructions. Maintain strict adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, and drug regulation standards to ensure safety and legal adherence. Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and supporting medication administration efforts in hospital or community pharmacy settings. Perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately for dosage determinations, IV infusion rates, and other clinical needs. Uphold patient confidentiality at all times while handling sensitive medical information in accordance with healthcare regulations. Qualifications Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is required; LTC (Long-Term Care), critical care, hospital, or community pharmacy experience is highly valued. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacological medical terminology, and acute care procedures. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred; must be willing to obtain if not already certified. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and data entry processes to ensure precise record keeping. Strong understanding of sterile IV compounding techniques, aseptic procedures, and sterile IV admixture procedures. Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and pharmacy laws governing medication dispensing. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care and effective communication within multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work efficiently in hospital or pharmacy environments requiring attention to detail and maintaining patient confidentiality.
