Job Summary All Pharmacy Technicians including Oncology Pharmacy Technicians and ED Pharmacy Technicians perform pharmacy functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to: Pharmacist support including answering phones and processing medication demands, filling patient specific medication, Cleanroom/ IV support including compliance with USP Chapter 797 and 800 procedures, filling and maintaining the automated dispensing cabinets, filling floor stock orders, filling and replacement of emergency kits, medication packaging, inventory management, performing various computer functions relating to billing, printing labels and reports and maintaining regulatory standards. Essential Functions Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Perform all tasks according to policy and procedure. Monitor and troubleshoot Pyxis hardware, software, and system alerts; escalate issues to pharmacy IT, engineering, or vendor support as needed. Operate and troubleshoot other Pharmacy technologies such as KitCheck, logistics, and the EPIC system. Manage new device installations, relocations, and equipment maintenance, including tracking serial numbers and coordinating replacements. Optimize Pyxis inventory by reviewing utilization, resolving stock-outs, and ensuring appropriate storage space use. Generate and present utilization, access, and optimization reports to pharmacy leadership. Collaborate with pharmacy staff, pharmacy IT, and vendor teams to address issues, support projects, and improve system efficiency. Perform additional pharmacy support duties and provide coverage as assigned. The main focus for Pharmacy Technicians functioning in the Emergency Department is to conduct medication history interviews in the Emergency Department for patients pending admission. Obtain and update the patient's current medication list, including last dose and frequency, to support accurate medication reconciliation by providers. Compliance with all elements of the Pharmacy Technician training tool. Integrates customer service into work practice. Perform workflow that maintain regulatory compliance of the department. Utilizes current hospital requirements for infection control. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives. Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision-making process to include recognition and priority setting related to pharmacy workflow issues. Collaborates and communicates with the health care team. Completes competency requirements. Attend mandatory in-services. Attend staff meetings as required/ requested. Utilizes cost containment practices. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Required or GED less than 1 year Pharmacy Technician experience preferred Preferred Medication dispensing systems (Low proficiency) Customer service akills (Medium proficiency) Registered Pharmacy Technician - New York State Board of Pharmacy Registered in New York State as a Pharmacy Technician as defined in Title 8, Article 137-A, Section 6844 of New York's Education Law and Part 63 of the Commissioner's Regulations or pharmacy student currently enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy Upon Hire Required Certified Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Certified Pharmacy Technician or currently enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy Upon Hire Required White Plains Hospital Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
