Responsibilities Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately in accordance with state and federal pharmacy laws and pharmaceutical regulations. Perform pharmaceutical calculations to ensure correct dosages and compounding procedures, including sterile IV admixture and aseptic techniques. Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and maintaining proper storage conditions for medications such as IV infusions and compounded drugs. Utilize pharmacy software systems for data entry, prescription processing, and maintaining detailed records while ensuring patient confidentiality at all times. Support patient service initiatives by answering questions about medications, providing medication counseling under supervision, and facilitating intake procedures for new prescriptions. Ensure compliance with hospital or community pharmacy protocols related to drug regulation, medical terminology, and pharmaceutical regulatory standards. Maintain a clean and sterile work environment by following aseptic techniques during sterile IV compounding and sterile medication preparation procedures. Qualifications Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician in settings such as LTC (Long-Term Care), hospital pharmacy, or community pharmacy; hospital experience is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation laws, medical terminology, and pharmacological medical terminology. Experience with pharmacy software systems for prescription processing and data management; familiarity with hospital or healthcare-specific software is advantageous. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to sterile compounding or pharmaceutical regulations are a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform IV infusion preparation, sterile IV admixture procedures, and aseptic technique with precision. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to maintain patient confidentiality diligently in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
