Job Description

Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy, located on the beautiful North Oregon Coast, has an immediate opening for a Pharmacy Technician. This position supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications, providing excellent customer service to patients and customers. This fully benefited position includes Medical, Dental and Vision coverage beginning on the first day of employment. This position is eligible for an additional 5% pay upon passing a Spanish proficiency test.
Duties:
  • Assists healthcare providers and patients/customers by greeting them in person or on the phone.
  • Answers questions and requests. Refers appropriate inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by assisting in determining inventory level, anticipates needed medications and supplies, places and verifies orders, and removes outdated drugs.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Protects patient confidentiality by using two patient identifiers.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders, preparing labels, calculating quantities. Assembles intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Maintains records by recording and filing physicians' orders and prescriptions.
  • Prepares reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  • Contributes to the team effort.

Qualifications:
  • Current Oregon Pharmacy Technician License.
  • Confidence in basic math skills.
  • Experience entering insurance information into pharmacy system.
  • Experience with Pioneer RX system preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Meets current State of Oregon COVID vaccination requirements for healthcare workers.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate both in person and by phone. Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Manual dexterity when inputting computer information. Exposure to normal noise, temperature, and dust and fume levels.
