Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB
: The Retail Pharmacy Technician is responsible for driving patient-facing customer service for the University of Pennsylvania Health System Retail Services at Doylestown Hospital. Technicians, while under the direct supervision of registered pharmacists, help to support the general ongoing operations of the retail pharmacy. Daily tasks may include timely and accurately filling outpatient prescriptions, inventory management, preparation of medications for shipment or pickup, communicating to patients in person and via telephone, investigating pharmacy benefits, and coordinating medication access. Coordinate with the pharmacist, the workflow for the processing of medication orders. Prepare medications for dispensing under the supervision of the pharmacist. Proactively assess and maintain adequate medication and supply inventory levels in all areas of the retail pharmacy. Collaborate and communicate appropriately and effectively with Pharmacy leadership / healthcare professionals / patients / customers and maintain a safe workspace. Use technology and automation appropriately to support medication delivery and storage. Perform duties in accordance with Penn Medicine Doylestown Hospital and entity values, policies and procedures.

Education :
High School Diploma /
GED Experience :
Prior pharmacy experience in a retail / outpatient pharmacy required.
Other Skills :
Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent patient / customer service; Excellent organizational skills. Positive, cooperative attitude. Works well with others as a team; Ability to work in a high-volume area; understand and utilize information accessed in an electronic health record. Must possess basic computer skills, versatility, and time management and be self-confident.
