Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician specializing in Infusion Pharmacy to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing sterile and non-sterile medications, with a focus on intravenous (IV) infusions and compounded medications. Responsibilities Prepare and compound sterile IV medications following aseptic techniques and sterile compounding procedures. Assist pharmacists in medication dispensing, ensuring accuracy in drug calculations and labeling. Maintain detailed documentation of medication preparation, including drug lot numbers, expiration dates, and batch records. Operate pharmacy software systems for data entry, inventory management, and prescription processing. Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, including drug regulation and medical terminology standards. Support patient care activities by providing medication information under pharmacist supervision. Adhere to hospital policies regarding patient confidentiality, infection control, and pharmaceutical regulations. Manage medication inventory levels, perform regular stock checks, and facilitate procurement processes. Participate in quality assurance initiatives related to sterile compounding and infusion safety. Maintain proficiency in pharmacological terminology, acute care procedures, and hospital pharmacy protocols. Assist with training new staff or interns on IV infusion techniques and pharmacy software systems. Skills Proven experience as a pharmacy technician within LTC (Long-Term Care), critical care, or hospital settings. Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug regulation laws, and aseptic techniques. Experience with IV infusion preparation, sterile compounding, and hospital pharmacy operations. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems for data entry and inventory management. Excellent understanding of medical terminology relevant to acute care environments. Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations accurately under pressure. Knowledge of state healthcare regulations, drug regulation policies, and federal pharmacy laws. Exceptional patient service skills combined with a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred or required depending on the facility's policy. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and inventory control.
