Summary:
The Level IV Technician, under immediate supervision, prepares and delivers medications. The Technician will maintain all documentation required by regulatory agencies, as well as to maintain and order supplies. The Technician will prepare medications (hazardous and nonhazardous), chemotherapy, and intravenous medications upon physician's orders on a regular basis. This individual will oversee pharmaceutical inventory stocking, restocking and management. The Technician will maintain clean and safe operation of biological safety cabinets and maintain cleaning of the sterile compounding areas according to USP 797 and 800 regulations. Additionally, the Technician will maintain appropriate environment for sterile preparation, use of proper technique and proper documentation. This individual will assist pharmacists as needed. The Technician is responsible for ordering all supplies for the pharmacy infusion area. The Technician will maintain all documentation required by USP 797, JACHO, and other regulatory agencies. A level IV Technician must also maintain main pharmacy competencies of a Level III technician including but not limited to unit inspections, sterile and nonsterile compounding, automated dispensing technologies, etc.
Requirements:
Current Certified Pharmacy Technician required. Two years of IV Compounding experience as a
Pharmacy Technician Licenses and Certifications:
Valid and active Pharmacy Technician licensure in appropriate state. National Certified Pharmacy Technician certification PTCB or NPTA Hazardous Compounding certification (within 6 months)Controlled Substance Diversion Training and Hazardous Drug Management training must be completed within 30 days of hire and annually. Completion of required IV Room competencies and training including Critical Point & Simplifi 797 IV training, media-fill and fingertip testing. #
