Pharmacy Technician - Federal Correctional Institution (FCI)

Gilmer Location:

Glenville, WV We are seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to provide services at FCI Gilmer in Glenville, WV. This position supports the Health Services Department in a federal correctional environment.

Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician will assist the staff pharmacist in ordering, stocking, storing, and dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications, maintain pharmacy areas, check for outdated inventory, prepare medication cards and unit dose medications, and maintain accurate records and inventories. The role requires compliance with all federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 6:00am - 1:30pm (7 one-hour sessions per day, 35 hours per week) Excludes Federal holidays Some flexibility required due to the correctional environment

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician Program and internship At least one (1) year of Pharmacy Technician experience Current BLS CPR certification Experience in a correctional environment preferred, but not required Knowledge of pharmacy equipment, automated systems, and infection control Ability to interact professionally with physicians, staff, and inmates Must be free of communicable diseases and able to pass required health screenings Must attend Institution Familiarization Orientation prior to starting

Duties Include:

Assist pharmacist with medication management and inventory Maintain clean and orderly pharmacy areas Prepare and audit medication stocks and records Perform minor clerical duties, including documentation in electronic medical records Participate in quality assurance activities as directed Adhere to all security and safety protocols
