Full-time Meaningful Healthcare Work with a Predictable Weekday Schedule Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to provide pharmacy support services within the Health Services Department of a federal correctional institution in Glenville, West Virginia. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dependable Pharmacy Technician who enjoys structured work, serving a unique patient population, and working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The regular schedule is approximately seven paid hours per day, Monday through Friday, generally between 6:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Federal holidays are normally excluded. There are generally no evening or weekend shifts, although flexibility may occasionally be needed based on the operational needs of the facility. Responsibilities Assist the staff pharmacist with ordering, stocking, storing, preparing, and dispensing prescription and nonprescription medications. Prepare medication cards and unit-dose medications. Stock and monitor medications in the main pharmacy, emergency carts, medication bags, satellite areas, and automated dispensing systems. Check medications for expiration dates and maintain accurate inventory records. Assist with narcotic counts and needle and syringe inventories. Restock and audit emergency or night-stock medication supplies. Maintain the pharmacy in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition. Use electronic medical records and pharmacy-related computer systems. Scan documents, file records, answer phones, type memoranda, schedule patients, and perform other minor clerical duties. Participate in pharmacy quality-assurance and performance-improvement activities. Maintain professional boundaries and follow all institutional safety, security, confidentiality, and patient-care requirements. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must meet all of the following requirements: Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program. Satisfactory completion of a Pharmacy Technician internship. At least one year of Pharmacy Technician experience. Current BLS/CPR certification. Any registration, certification, or other credential required to work as a Pharmacy Technician in West Virginia. Experience using automated medication-dispensing systems and electronic documentation. Knowledge of medication storage, inventory control, infection control, and patient safety. Ability to communicate professionally with pharmacists, physicians, healthcare staff, patients, and institutional personnel. Ability to successfully complete required federal background screening, fingerprinting, security clearance, and facility orientation. Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but is not required. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: Dependable and punctual. Khaki and green clothing may not be worn because those colors are used by the institution's incarcerated population.
