Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a skilled and certified Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontaminating, and updating patient information. The Phlebotomist will collect and store specimens according to established procedures and ensure compliance with all necessary regulations. Responsibilities Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment. Update patient information and collect specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Understand and follow all physicians' orders. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperatures. Follow specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department trainings. Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results as needed. Essential Skills Phlebotomy Blood draw Venipuncture Phlebotomy certification Laboratory experience Pediatric and geriatric experience Customer service Healthcare Specimen processing Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting High School Diploma or GED 3 years of experience in phlebotomy Work Environment This position is for the 2nd shift, from 12 PM to 8:30 PM, in a doctor's office. The phlebotomist will handle around 5 patients per day and manage numerous samples. The candidate is expected to stand intermittently throughout the day and should have substantial experience working with geriatric patients. The position requires working independently, and the candidate will receive approximately 2 weeks of training. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
