Summary:
Phlebotomists properly identify patients and obtain blood specimens as ordered by a licensed health care provider. The Phlebotomist ensures, in the presence of the patient, that specimens are properly identified with a hospital-generated label or with two patient identifiers, the date, the time, and their unique ID. They are responsible for the timely delivery of specimens to the laboratory and must communicate with nursing and laboratory staff if there is a problem in obtaining a specimen. Phlebotomists also complete courier rounds, chain of custody drug testing, and breath alcohol testing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience preferred. Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with doctors, nurses, clinical staff, and people from all walks of life and in every age group. Must be able to read, write, and have basic computer skills. Must understand and practice proper phone etiquette. This job will be authorized 80.00 hours bi-weekly.
