Phlebotomist IIIOverview We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality specimen collections, ensuring accurate specimen processing and handling, delivering excellent patient care, and supporting overall laboratory operations. This position is ideal for a skilled phlebotomist with extensive blood-draw experience who thrives in a fast-paced clinical or hospital environment and is passionate about accuracy, compliance, and patient satisfaction. As a senior member of the team, you will also assist with workflow troubleshooting, process improvement initiatives, and mentoring or training fellow team members on best practices. Key Responsibilities

+ Perform venipuncture procedures using straight needles and butterfly needles while maintaining exceptional patient care and professionalism.

+ Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other laboratory specimens according to established protocols.

+ Explain specimen collection procedures to patients and address questions in a courteous and reassuring manner.

+ Verify patient information, test orders, and specimen labels to ensure accuracy and compliance.

+ Match laboratory requisitions to specimen tubes and confirm all required information is complete.

+ Label, process, centrifuge, split, freeze, and store specimens according to test requirements and laboratory procedures.

+ Package and prepare specimens for transport while maintaining specimen integrity.

+ Ensure specimens are stored at appropriate temperatures and in the correct containers.

+ Follow department and client-specific specimen handling and transport procedures.

+ Accurately update patient information and documentation within laboratory information systems.

+ Interpret physician orders and laboratory requests to ensure proper specimen collection and processing.

+ Answer incoming calls and respond professionally to routine laboratory-related inquiries.

+ Record maintenance logs and perform equipment and workspace decontamination according to laboratory standards.

+ Adhere to OSHA, DEP, HIPAA, and all applicable regulatory and safety requirements.

+ Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.

+ Identify workflow challenges and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiency.

+ Assist in training and mentoring staff on proper phlebotomy techniques and specimen handling practices. Required Qualifications

+ High School Diploma or GED required.

+ Valid Phlebotomy Certification, where required by state regulations.

+ Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience performing blood draws in a clinical, laboratory, or hospital environment.

+ Demonstrated proficiency with venipuncture using straight needles and butterfly needles.

+ Experience processing specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, freezing, splitting, and storage procedures.

+ Strong understanding of laboratory requisitions, specimen handling requirements, and test order verification.

+ Knowledge of OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety standards.

+ Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and laboratory computer systems.

+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

+ Excellent communication and customer service skills.

+ Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Preferred Qualifications

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.70 - $28.00/hr.
