Job Description

Job Title:
Phlebotomist Job Description As a Phlebotomist, you will demonstrate expertise in blood collection through venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all ages, including pediatric collections and challenging draws in medical office buildings. You will uphold compliance and safety standards, effectively communicate their importance to colleagues, and contribute to the orientation and training of patient service technicians. The role involves working with pediatric patients under the guidance of the lab supervisor and team lead. The schedule offers flexibility, requiring availability between 6am to 11pm throughout the week. Responsibilities Perform blood collection using venipuncture and capillary techniques. Handle pediatric blood collections and difficult draws efficiently. Ensure compliance with safety standards and communicate their importance. Provide orientation and training to patient service technicians. Work under the supervision of the lab supervisor and team lead. Adapt to a flexible work schedule, available between 6am and 11pm daily. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Phlebotomist or Lab Assistant. CPT 1 License required. Proficiency in venipuncture and neonatal phlebotomy. At least six months to one year of experience in an acute or sub-acute setting. Experience with neonatal and pediatric blood draws. Competence in using lab systems such as Cerner. Strong customer service skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma required. Hospital experience is a plus. Ability to draw 45-55 patients in an outpatient setting within an 8-hour shift. Ability to draw 20-30 patients in an inpatient setting within an 8-hour shift. Excellent attendance and behavior record. Flexibility in working hours and shifts. Willingness to travel across various Medical Office Building labs in South Orange County. Work Environment The role involves working in high-volume Medical Office Buildings (clinics) and later transitioning to the main lab in a hospital setting. The work environment is dynamic, with draw stations located across various locations including Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Foothill Ranch, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Tustin, and San Juan Capistrano. The position requires adaptability to different facility conditions and a professional dress code. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Irvine, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
