Responsibilities
- Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established safety and accuracy standards.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing promptly and correctly to ensure quality results.
- Explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.
- Perform daily tasks independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of assigned duties.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a professional environment in the clinical setting.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors by promoting process excellence and confidentiality. Required Skills
- Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques, including pediatric and geriatric blood draws.
- Ability to perform quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain procedures clearly.
- Experience with keyboard and data entry tasks related to specimen processing.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; in California, Nevada, and Washington, certification is required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 months of related work experience; more than one year of phlebotomy experience is a plus.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs.
- Good interpersonal skills to ensure patient comfort and safety.
