Phlebotomist Job Description We are seeking a flexible and dynamic phlebotomist to provide coverage in both hospital and clinic settings, with potential assignments in specimen processing. The position offers the opportunity for a varied and mobile workflow, requiring adaptability to cover multiple locations and shifts, including weekends and on-call during the week. Responsibilities Perform phlebotomy and blood collection in hospital and clinic settings. Process specimens as needed. Provide coverage across multiple locations, including South Bay (Otay), East County (El Cajon), and Central areas (Point Loma to Carmel Valley). Float between departments, including the Emergency Department (ED). Utilize EMR systems such as Certa and EPIC. Collaborate with teams to ensure efficient workflow and patient care. Essential Skills Phlebotomy expertise and blood draw proficiency. Experience with EMR systems, including Certa and EPIC. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and on-call hours. Comfortable working in both hospital and clinic environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications California CPT license is required. One year of experience preferred, but externs who can be trained are welcome. Experience with pediatrics is a plus. Bilingual skills are helpful but not required. Work Environment The work environment is dynamic, with flexible hours and potential last-minute shift assignments. Shifts may start as early as 4 AM or as late as 3 PM, extending to 11 PM. The position involves working across various clinical and hospital settings, requiring adaptability and a readiness to support diverse departments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
