Responsible for the activities and functions of the inpatient and outpatient phlebotomists. Offers expertise in phlebotomy to include, and not limited to: phlebotomy, processing, accessioning, and send-outs. Serves as a subject matter expert and reference to staff. Takes part in department operation planning and ensures effective use of system resources. Participates in process improvement activities. Oversees staffing matrices, conducts performance evaluations, and disciplines employees. Ensures policy and procedures are followed by staff. Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies. Oversees performance of specimen processing, accessioning, phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks, customer service, clerical duties, effective communication with laboratory customers, problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory and maintenance, as well as cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment. Additional duties include the operation of instruments, and preventative maintenance as appropriate to each section/department. assigned. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. Maintains a current Phlebotomy Certification issued by the state of California Laboratory Field Services.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. 5 or more years of relevant experience. Experience and thorough knowledge of laboratory processing concepts, procedures, processes, and equipment. Ability to apply principles in a clinical laboratory setting. Demonstrated knowledge of Scientific Terminology. Knowledge of laboratory regulations, laws, and ethical requirements. Knowledge of Hospital Isolation, Infection Control protocols, patient comfort/safety.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Phlebotomist and hold a valid California Phlebotomy license (CPT). Previous Phlebotomy supervisory experience in a hospital setting. Large, complex healthcare system.SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range:
$97,200- $182,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent:
$46.55- $87.
