Phlebotomist St Josephs Medical Center - 3.6 Stockton, CA Job Details Full-time $34.77 - $39.23 an hour 2 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Driver's License Medical terminology Full Job Description Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Phlebotomist, you will help patients of all ages obtain necessary diagnostic biological specimens so they can receive accurate and timely medical care. Every day you will perform precise venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques across various medical settings, including in-patient, outpatient, and emergency departments. You will be expected to also handle clerical duties, transport and process specimens, perform ECGs, and operate various laboratory and IT systems, ensuring patient comfort and maintaining meticulous records. To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate competency in all phlebotomy procedures, possess strong communication skills, an understanding of laboratory terminology, and the ability to work accurately with numbers and computer systems, all while upholding the highest standards of patient care and ethical conduct. Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures on patients of all ages, including newborns, pediatrics, and geriatrics, while adhering to proper order-of-draw protocols. Execute specialized clinical tasks including ECG tracings, TB skin inoculations, and point-of-care testing in accordance with medical center policies. Strictly follow patient identification protocols, ensure informed consent, and maintain patient privacy, modesty, and rights throughout the collection process. Process, label, and transport biological specimens to the laboratory, ensuring all data entry and nursing activity logs are accurate and completed within required timeframes. Competently utilize and maintain phlebotomy equipment (such as vacutainers, syringes, and lancets) and ensure the work area remains clean, organized, and adequately stocked. Communicate effectively with healthcare providers regarding test orders and assist in investigating and resolving any issues related to orders or specimen integrity. Job Requirements Required High School Graduate or GED Six months training in a clinical laboratory or One (1) year experience in a reference laboratory
