In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately collecting, processing, and managing various clinical specimens to support diagnostic testing and patient care. Your expertise in laboratory procedures, specimen collection techniques, and medical terminology will ensure high-quality sample handling and contribute to the overall efficiency of our laboratory operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision, professionalism, and compassion are essential. Responsibilities Collect a variety of specimens including blood, urine, saliva, spinal fluid, and tissue samples using proper venipuncture and aseptic techniques. Ensure all specimen collection procedures adhere strictly to laboratory protocols and safety standards. Prepare specimens for analysis by labeling, documenting patient information accurately, and processing samples according to established procedures. Maintain detailed records of specimen collection activities, including date, time, type of specimen, and patient details. Assist with laboratory management tasks such as inventory control of collection supplies and maintaining cleanliness of collection areas. Follow hospital and research laboratory procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations and safety guidelines. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding specimen requirements and handling instructions. Qualifications Previous experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of laboratory techniques including venipuncture, spinal tap procedures, and catheterization. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures. Certification or training in basic life support (BLS) is advantageous. Familiarity with hospital environments and pediatric or veterinary terminology is a plus. Ability to demonstrate aseptic technique consistently to prevent contamination or infection. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow precise protocols are essential for success in this role.
