Full Job Description Phlebotomist Starting Pay Range:
$17.32 - $20.38 per hour and considers preferred experience Pueblo Community Health Center offers a flexible benefits program to full-time and part-time employees working 20 hours or more per week. Job Summary:
Performs routine venipuncture & heel sticks. Assist with lab record keeping and quality control activities.

None Education/Experience/License/Certification:
High school graduate or equivalent with proper training in phlebotomy procedures Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy diploma program preferred Minimum one (1) year experience as a lab assistant/phlebotomist preferred
Required Travel:
Infrequent travel may include limited local travel.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of laboratory techniques to perform routine venipunctures. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with laboratory staff. Skill in labeling and maintaining all materials for collection. Knowledge of basic computer functions. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly. Spanish speaking preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Adhere to the guidelines and procedures of Pueblo Community Health Center, Inc. Performs routine venipuncture & heel sticks appropriate to the age-specific needs of all patients, including peri-natal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, with little or no supervision. Verify and/or record identity of patient and converse with patient to explain procedure as well as allay fear of procedure. Perform daily quality control in the laboratory as needed. Maintain records/logs of lab work performed and provide daily reports to the Director of Laboratory & Infection Control. Assist with identification and labeling of specimens. Stores and distributes specimens. Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments. Cleans work area. Answers telephone takes messages and provides routine laboratory information. Checks inventory of supplies and assists with placing orders. Attends required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.
