In this vital role, you will perform blood collection, specimen processing, and laboratory support functions to ensure accurate and timely diagnostic testing. Responsibilities Collect blood samples via venipuncture and capillary techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Prepare and label specimens accurately following established protocols for laboratory testing. Assist with specimen processing, handling, and transportation to the appropriate laboratory departments. Maintain strict aseptic techniques during specimen collection and handling to prevent contamination. Document patient information, vital signs, and specimen details accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems. Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring a positive experience. Support laboratory operations through data entry, inventory management, and adherence to safety standards such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR protocols. Skills Proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods including venipuncture and blood sampling. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to clinical laboratory work. Experience with hospital or clinical laboratory environments is highly desirable. Skilled in using EMR/EHR systems for data entry and documentation of patient information. Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient care across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics. Ability to lift heavy objects safely while maintaining proper body mechanics during specimen handling or equipment setup. Knowledge of aseptic technique, blood sampling procedures, vital signs measurement, and specimen processing standards.
