Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides instruction to students in Phlebotomoy courses, including a dual enrollment high school site. Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques; appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other record-keeping required; effective use of oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of current in-field procedures. Follows approved course syllabus. Maintain program requirements, attend/complete all professional development training, and meet with students and school-level personnel to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Evaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Completes all reports, records, and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. I.
Teacher Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provides leadership opportunities for students by establishing a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), i.e., HOSA, as a co-curricular instructional tool within the classroom; 2. Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all assigned students for the school calendar year; 3. Implement curriculum standards using necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials, which are suited to the well-being of the students and to the nature of the learning activities, program, and/or curriculum involved; 4. Manages and maintains program facilities and equipment; 5. Develops detailed instructional plans and instruct designated classes in accordance with formulated plans and outlines, modified as necessary to achieve a mastery of learning objectives for all students; 6. Accurately evaluates and records student progress; completes all records and reports on time with accuracy; 7. Establishes and implements classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage achievement; 8. Attends or participates in all required staffing meetings; performs other student-focused responsibilities assigned by the Principal; 9. Participates in activities to enhance professional skills; 10. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1.
College diploma/degree in a health-related field from an academic institution that an institutional accrediting agency accredits; 2. A current healthcare professional license, registration, or certification that relates to the healthcare field and has been issued by an appropriate governing or regulatory body 3. A minimum of two (2) years of occupational work experience in the healthcare field; 4. Proficiency in and knowledge of healthcare systems; 5. Knowledge of the design and implementation of lesson plans for students; 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1.
Ability to relate and motivate all students concerning learning styles to make learning meaningful, effective, contextual, and involve positive interactions for the ongoing intellectual development of young minds; 2. Ability to provide remediation appropriate to program standards to impact student learning, progress, and development with a wide range of achievement levels; 3. Ability to use the latest technical technology in educational and career-related disciplines; 4. Classroom management skills.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to obtain clearance certificate from GaPSC. Meets Georgia state certification requirements in assigned field of education.
Salary/Terms/Benefits:
195 day work year. Salary based on certification and experience; placement on the Adopted Salary Schedule and position supplement(s). Excellent benefits package (including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; employee assistance program); personal and sick leave; membership in Teachers' Retirement System.
