Work Schedule:
Weekends Fri, Sat, Sun 7p-7a Perform and oversee specimen collection by accurately completing venipuncture and microtainer collections, ensuring proper patient identification, specimen labeling, and order verification. Coordinate daily phlebotomy operations by prioritizing STAT and urgent specimens, assigning workloads, troubleshooting service issues, and supporting efficient laboratory workflow. Train and mentor staff by assisting with department orientation, educating laboratory staff and students, mentoring new employees, and ensuring competency documentation is completed. Maintain safety and regulatory compliance by adhering to infection prevention, chemical hygiene, PPE, hand hygiene, and hazardous waste handling and transport requirements. Support operational excellence by serving as a professional role model, collaborating with leadership to resolve workflow issues, and contributing to high-quality patient care and laboratory service.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask. [Required]
- Ability and willingness to work independently as well as in a team environment. [Required]
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, etc. [Required]
- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English. [Required]
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. [Required]
- Phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary).
Education:
- High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
- Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]
Field of Study:
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred
Work Experience:
- 6 months phlebotomy experience [Required]
- 6 months experience in AdventHealth Lab [Preferred]
Additional Information:
N/A Licenses and Certifications:
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
- Phlebotomy Technician (PBT(ASCP)) [Preferred]
