Here, you will perform phlebotomy, order entry, central processing, EKG's, performing laboratory testing, and assist with DOT's and BAT's as needed. This department is the Calumet City Laboratory Service Center. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area. Under the leadership of the Director of Laboratory Services and Laboratory Supervisors, the Clinical Lab Associate performs blood specimen collection within compliance of Federal Regulatory Guidelines and demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge through competencies for specific skills; all appropriate to the age of patients. When full competency at level 1 has been achieved, the person may be elevated to CLA level 2. The Lab Service Center is available for urgent or standard result times. We can analyze specimens at the cellular, chemical, endocrinological or immunologic levels. Essential Job Functions Performs assigned supportive work in conjunction with the delivery of patient care, involving multiple office, clerical, technical duties, venipuncture, blood specimen collection, obtain EKG, and functional skills Interacts, intervenes, and problem solves to ensure exceptional customer service by greeting patients, responding to telephone inquiries, phones/faxes/distributes test results Processes human specimens for delivery to specific laboratory departments for testing Performs technical procedures, for which training has been given and competency demonstrated Utilizes interactive processes which will contribute to exceeding the expectations of patients, physicians, families or significant others in the provision of high-quality, cost-effective care and treatments Demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge to provide care for patients according to unit specific competencies Various degrees of unpredictability can occur from day to day which will require the individual to adapt by adjusting as required in work schedules and assignments Demonstrates a working knowledge of the HIS and LIS systems, and progress to functional capabilities with the hospital billing computer systems Handles specimens upon receipt in lab following the policies and procedures of the Department of Laboratory Services Prepares specimens to be sent to outside reference laboratories in accordance with requirements specified for each referral laboratory Ensures outpatients receive excellent customer service when presenting at the laboratory for specimen collection. Non-Union In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 8-16 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work an 8-hour shift, with varying start times including 6:00 AM, 6:30 AM, 7:00 AM, 10:00 AM, and 3:00 PM., and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work primarily at the Ingalls Calumet City location. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday) only every other week. 1600 Torrence Ave, Calumet City, IL 60409 UChicago Medicine at Ingalls - Calumet City offers convenient primary and specialty care for the whole family.
