The Float Phlebotomist II will support multiple Patient Service Centers (PSC) and IOP sites by performing specimen collection, processing, troubleshooting, and workflow support. Key Responsibilities:
Perform blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifugation, and processing Collect and store specimens according to established procedures Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients clearly and professionally Demonstrate proficiency with straight and butterfly needles Review and verify physician orders and lab requisitions Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and specimen labeling Package and prepare specimens for transport Maintain specimen integrity through proper handling and temperature control Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations Attend required training sessions Handle patient interactions, including phone inquiries and lab result communication Perform blood draws, processing, drug screens, and paternity collections in PSC and IOP settings
Qualifications & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED Minimum 6 months of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting 2-4 years of overall experience preferred Valid Phlebotomy certification (as required by state) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and handle difficult draws (hard sticks) Flexible and adaptable to multiple locations
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Standing for most of the shift (with lunch break) Working across multiple PSC and IOP locations Float role requiring: Reliable vehicle Valid driver's license Good driving record Mileage reimbursed from home base 1-2 weeks of training

40 hours/week Daily volume: ~80 draws per day Pediatric experience required (including newborns)
